Roosevelt High School offers dual credit classes through South Plains College and Angelo State University. A student enrolled in a dual credit course receives academic credit for both high school and college upon successful completion. Each course is one semester in length. Registration for Spring classes will occur in November.
What is Needed to Take Dual Credit?
Students in any Dual Credit course are to show college readiness by successfully completing the TSIA 2.0 (Texas Success Initiative) prior to registration. as well as having at least an 85 average. Dual Credit courses are more rigorous than high school courses, and students are expected to devote time outside of class to complete coursework and meet deadlines.
How Much are Dual Credit Courses?
Prices for courses are listed by semester hours. For example: Composition 1 (English 1301) class is 3 semester hours. (Approximately $180 per class, per semester). Payment plans are available through South Plains College and Angelo State University. You must make ALL payment arrangements through SPC or ASU according to their payment schedule; Roosevelt cannot take or process payments. **Students who are economically disadvantaged may be eligible for the FAST program through the college. An eligible student will not pay tuition and fees for an eligible dual credit course.
What Dual Credit Classes are Available at My School?
Currently, Roosevelt offers one dual credit class taught by a teacher on campus, and the remaining courses are online only. There is no on-campus instructor for the online classes, but students will have a class period to work on assignments. Please speak with the high school counselor for more information about specific courses offered.
